"Honk" The Musical: Our Season Finale!

We have all heard the term "ugly duckling" before. Perhaps you went through an "ugly duckling" stage when  you were in middle school; you wore glasses and had frizzy hair and your face looked like a pepperoni pizza... or maybe that was just me? Regardless if you shared the same experience of puberty as me, we can all relate in one way or another to feeling like the odd one out, or the looming feeling that we just don't fit in. The story of, The Ugly Duckling was written by the beloved Danish poet and author, Hans Christian Andersen in 1844. He has written such classics as, The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Pea and The Emperor's New Clothes. This fairy tale is an exploration of self transformation and learning to be happy with who you are despite what others may say or think of you.

In our season's final production, we put on a fun filled adventure where not everyone is who they seem and sometimes we find that we have more courage in us than we ever realized. Directed by the talented Ken Stevens, the award wining musical, Honk is based on the charming tale, The Ugly Duckling. Join us for catchy songs, sharp wit and a lesson that all of us need a reminder of once in a while, whether we're young or old. Honk is a production that you won't wanna miss!

"A Love/Hate Story in Black and White"

What is more powerful, love or hate?
Without getting too philosophical it is a simple question but can have a complicated answer. Some say that love and hate are exact opposites. Others say that love and hate are two such intense emotions that they are practically the same. What do you think? In Wedding Band: A Love/Hate Story in Black and White that is just one of the many thought provoking questions discussed. Written by Alice Childress and directed by Wallace Bridges, this show dives deep into the human heart and shines light on some of the darker aspects of human character that we would rather leave hidden.

Against the backdrop of 1918 South Carolina, two people are in love against all odds. Due to laws prohibiting interracial marriage, Julia, an African American seamstress, and Herman, a caucasian baker, suffer the consequences from the community. Unable to escape to the north where they can be married, the couple is forced to keep their long standing love affair a secret. This beautiful love story moves and inspires while exploring taboo themes of racism and violence.

Recommended for mature audiences.

Shake Shake Shake...Shaking Earth

Our tale begins in the boot heel of Missouri in the year 1939. It was a time of much hardship, racism and fear. With the start of WWII and the tail end of the Great Depression, the many earth quakes known to hit Missouri weren't the only thing shaking things up. In Shaking Earth we follow the struggle of two sharecropping families trying to survive in unjust working conditions and the journey between two girls who strive to stay together in a world that tells them to be apart. Written by our very own Patricia Zimmer and directed by the lovable Meriah Sage, we invite you to experience the friendship, hatred, courage and sacrifice presented in the world premiere staged reading of,

The Story of Snow White

The fairy tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was first written in 1812 by the famous duo, the Brother's Grimm. Since then the story has adapted into numerous re-tellings...  The most popular version is of Walt Disney's first animated film in 1937, where the beloved characters of Doc, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Bashful and Dopey came alive. This past summer two major blockbuster's Mirror Mirror and Snow White and The Huntsman opened. Needless to say the fairy tale of Snow White is a significant part of today's culture...

In the upcoming production, White as Snow, Red as Blood: The Story of Snow White, Adapted by: V. Glasgow Koste, director Jenny Koppera has crafted a brand new take on this beloved story; filled with enchantment, love, danger, beauty and wit.

Check out our latest Inside the Actor's Studio with Michael Herman and Anthony Petrucci who play two of the seven dwarfs...
